{"id":290,"date":"2015-03-05T21:29:00","date_gmt":"2015-03-05T21:29:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.xrev.com.au\/news\/?p=290"},"modified":"2015-03-05T21:29:00","modified_gmt":"2015-03-05T21:29:00","slug":"xrev-transmit-post-processing-commands","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.xrev.com.au\/news\/xrev-transmit-post-processing-commands\/","title":{"rendered":"Xrev Transmit &#8211; Post Processing Commands"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<div id=\"attachment_291\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.xrev.com.au\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Post-Processing-Commands.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-291\" class=\"size-full wp-image-291 \" title=\"Post Processing Commands\" src=\"https:\/\/www.xrev.com.au\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Post-Processing-Commands.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"123\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.xrev.com.au\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Post-Processing-Commands.jpg 608w, https:\/\/www.xrev.com.au\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Post-Processing-Commands-300x61.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-291\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Setting a Post Processing Command to run<\/p><\/div>\n<p>This feature has been in Xrev Transmit for a long time. \u00a0But we thought we&#8217;d highlight some of the awesome ways it can be used!<\/p>\n<p>With the installation we include 3 sample Post Processing Scripts:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Copy Files<\/strong>, to copy the output files (PDF&#8217;s, DWG&#8217;s etc) to another location, perhaps an FTP Site, or perhaps you keep all the documents ordered by date, and then a duplicate in one folder for convenience&#8230;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Delete PCP Files<\/strong>, to delete the little used PCP files that Revit outputs when generating a DWG.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Run AutoCAD Script<\/strong>, to open up each of the AutoCAD files and run a script on them. \u00a0This can do anything from purging out some of the garbage from the file, or deleting the titleblock and putting a preliminary stamp on the sheet, or even substituting TrueType Fonts with SHX Fonts.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Other examples of how our customers have used this feature:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Maintaining a Current Issue Folder<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s say by default you output each issue into its own date specific folder with a description &lt;Date&gt;-&lt;Issue Name&gt;. \u00a0But for convenience you also wish to maintain a &#8220;Current Issue&#8221; folder in another location that just has the most recent revision of all the sheets issued, and old drawings are placed in a &#8220;Superseded&#8221; folder. \u00a0Xrev Transmit can do this for you!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Substituting Illegal Characters<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sometimes you want to have the Sheet Issue Date, output in the file name. \u00a0But if your Revit parameter uses forward slashes as the separators, these are illegal characters in a file name. \u00a0Xrev Transmit automatically substitutes these with Percentage encoding %2F. \u00a0A script could be written to automatically find the particular percentage codes in file names, and replace it with a particular character. \u00a0<em>(NOTE: Modifying the file name or path in this way will mean Xrev Transmit will be unable to find the file for uploading to sites like Aconex).<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Truncating Parameter Values<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Perhaps you output with the Sheet Name in the file name, but would only like it to output the first 12 characters of the Sheet Name. \u00a0A script could be written to remove the unwanted characters. \u00a0(NOTE: Modifying the file name or path in this way will mean Xrev Transmit will be unable to find the file for uploading to sites like Aconex).<\/p>\n<p>If you have any other ideas we&#8217;d love to hear them!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This feature has been in Xrev Transmit for a long time. \u00a0But we thought we&#8217;d highlight some of the awesome ways it can be used!
