{"id":262,"date":"2014-05-11T07:42:29","date_gmt":"2014-05-11T07:42:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.xrev.com.au\/news\/?p=262"},"modified":"2014-09-29T00:19:02","modified_gmt":"2014-09-29T00:19:02","slug":"rtc-australasia-2014-family-creation-overdrive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.xrev.com.au\/news\/rtc-australasia-2014-family-creation-overdrive\/","title":{"rendered":"RTC Australasia 2014 &#8211; Family Creation Overdrive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As you may know, RTC is fast approaching and begins at the end of the month in Melbourne. \u00a0As always, I will be running a LAB. \u00a0This time on Family creation and aiming at covering examples for MEP, Structural and Architectural families..<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_263\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.xrev.com.au\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Evaporator-Cassette-Samsung-DVM-1Way-Slim-2.2-3.6kW.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-263\" class=\"size-full wp-image-263 \" title=\"Manufacturer Ceiling Cassette A\/C\" src=\"https:\/\/www.xrev.com.au\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Evaporator-Cassette-Samsung-DVM-1Way-Slim-2.2-3.6kW.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.xrev.com.au\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Evaporator-Cassette-Samsung-DVM-1Way-Slim-2.2-3.6kW.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/www.xrev.com.au\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Evaporator-Cassette-Samsung-DVM-1Way-Slim-2.2-3.6kW-300x224.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-263\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Manufacturer Ceiling Cassette A\/C<\/p><\/div>\n<p>I love to get feedback prior to these classes so what we cover is what you are expecting and the attendees get the maximum out of it. \u00a0As this is only a 75 minute lab including question time, we aren&#8217;t going to have the time to go through the creation of families from start to finish. \u00a0Instead we&#8217;ll be finishing off some families I&#8217;ve already pieced together, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Round Duct Tee Fitting &#8211; looking at using integers to drive geometry, but we&#8217;ll also look at how this family uses some pretty tricky trigonometry to ensure the fitting is centralised regardless of the angle.<\/li>\n<li>Structural Purlin &#8211; Symbolic Line offset in plan to more clearly display lapping of beams. \u00a0Here we&#8217;ll use a Yes\/No parameter to drive the offset<\/li>\n<li>Window family, that essentially is a curtain wall replacement family, so it can be more easily scheduled. \u00a0In this I&#8217;ll show you how we can use a Yes\/No parameter to make the mullions equally spaced, whilst still allowing the user to specify the mullion exact spacing if they want. \u00a0We&#8217;ll also look at how we can have any panel be a fixed, casement or awning window.<\/li>\n<li>Providing time doesn&#8217;t get away from us, we&#8217;ll look at some manufacturer content and how we can specific a voltage range in a family, and ensure its always within this range. \u00a0Generating Polynomial equations using excel to assist in simplifying your Revit formulas. \u00a0Locking down all parameters that the end user shouldn&#8217;t be messing with, to make it easier to use and unbreakable.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>With everything we do there will be a focus on using ANZRS along with looking at some of the new Revit 2015 family stuff such as parameter sorting and tooltips.<\/p>\n<p>If there are some alternative suggestions you&#8217;d like to make, then now is the time!
