Xrev Transmit - Doing your First Sheet Issue

This video demonstrates, step by step how to do an issue using Xrev Transmit.  This particular sample shows how an end user completes a new issue with transmittal.  It takes you through the 5 step process:

  1. Select the type of issue,
  2. Select the sheets to be issued,
  3. Select the formats to be output,
  4. Enter the transmittal information (recipients, reason for issue etc.),
  5. Review the summary of what will be created and commence the issue.

Once this is complete we review all the files/folders that have been generated and take a look at the Transmittal.  For every project, once the company standards are set, this is all a typical end user needs to do.  Ensuring a consistent, efficient and quality ouput.  Ultimately giving you more time up to your deadline to complete the documentation.

Xrev Transmit - Creating and Editing Recipients

This video demonstrates, step by step how to create, edit and delete recipients in Xrev Transmit.

  1. Search Recipients by Full Name and Company,
  2. Sort Recipients by 1 or more columns,
  3. Select existing Companies in the system,
  4. Add in Settings or during Issue,
  5. Add Recipients to a project.

Once a recipient is added to the system they are available for use in all projects avoiding redundant data entry.  Simply add existing recipients to a project.  They will then be remembered for your next issue.

Xrev Transmit - Network Deployment

This video demonstrates, step by step how to do centralise your settings and deploy them around your office so all your staff can benefit from Xrev Transmit’s many features without having to individual set up each copy.

  1. Relocate the SDF file to a network share,
  2. Edit the Settings file to reset the database location,
  3. Test
  4. Copy and Overwrite the Settings file in each of the workstations
  5. Your Settings are now centralised.

Once this is complete all Xrev Transmit installs in the office will use the same database.  As such any change to the settings is instantly reflected across all workstations in the office.  This is the ideal way to setup Xrev Transmit with multiple copies.

Xrev Transmit - Using a Custom Revision Parameter

This video demonstrates the ability to use a custom revison parameter for those not using the standard Revit Revision tool.  As the numbering system for the Revit Revision tool is limited we understand some users are unable to make use of this tool.  This option allows everything to function correclty with your custom revision parameter.

  1. Specify if the Revision parameter is not the default,
  2. Specify the name of the paramter you are using for Revisioning

It is a quick and easy process to use a custom revision parameter ensuring you can keep up on task.

Xrev Transmit - Using Project Overrides for Settings

This video demonstrates the various project override options available, their benefits and how to use them.  For those times when a client has specific requirements that vary to your company standards.

  1. Override the Output Location,
  2. Override the Default Profile,
  3. Override the Revision Parameter,
  4. Override the Transmittal Naming and Output Location,
  5. Override the Post Processing Command.

This should be one of the very few times where you may need to go into settings to modify options for a particular project.  Please let us know if these options are insufficient for your needs in anyway.

Xrev Transmit - Setting a Naming Convention and Output Paths

This video demonstrates how to setup the Output Locations and Naming Conventions.  We detail how to use the Revit Parameter tokens and the various advanced parametric abilities that are possible to save you time and money.

  1. Rather than Static Folder locations, make it parametric,
  2. Add Tokens for Revit Parameters,
  3. Add Tokens for Xrev Transmit Issue Information,
  4. Add Tokens for Windows System Variables,
  5. Mix in Standard Text.

Using this functionality ever folder location and file name can be made parametric.  Please let us know if there is a folder location that you are unable to make parametric using these features.

Xrev Transmit - Setting Up New Issue Format Types

This video demonstrates how to create, edit and generally manage the various issue formats.  We run through the process of creating formats for PDF’s and DWG’s that use parametric naming convention and output paths.

  1. Add Format
  2. Select the Format Type
  3. Name the Format
  4. Set the options that you require
  5. Add/edit your naming convention

Correctly setup, you should never have to touch these settings again!  Set once and forget...  That is, you don’t have to set this up for each project (unless your project has different requirements than your company standards).

Xrev Transmit - Using a Post Processing Command

This video demonstrates the post processing abilities that can be applied to run on the files Xrev Transmit generates from Revit.  This allows our customers to design and run many advanced tasks on their files automatically.  We supply 3 sample post processing commands to demonstrate just some of the possibilities:

  1. Delete PCP Files,
  2. Copy Files to another location (rather than generate them twice),
  3. Run AutoCAD Script on DWG files.

If there are things that you often have to do to the files Revit generates prior to issuing them or as part of issuing them, then this option will most likely fulfil your needs.  We are happy to develop custom post processing commands if users require very specific needs.
